Awareness of occupational safety and health plays an important role in the prevention of occupational injuries and diseases. The principle is to prevent and protect the workers against hazards and its risks in connection with their activities at work and employer should provide a series of safety related training for their employees to improve the awareness and knowledge of occupational safety and health in the workplace.

Chemical safety and security can minimize the exposure of the employees towards pre-existing hazards as a part of risk control measures. Well trained employee on chemical aspects can protect both themselves and company’s property from facing unwanted incidents. They must be fully aware, trained and provided with sufficient personal protective equipment and engineering-controlled devices to reduce their hazardous exposure levels. Nevertheless, they can also be an important and integral component of a company’s effective Chemical Spill Emergency Response Team.

We are HRDF Registered Training Provider refers to the company or organization that acts as a Training Vendor to HRDF Registered Employers. Following the enactment of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 or Act 514 provides the legislative framework for the safety, health and welfare among all Malaysian workforce. Our safety trainers are recognized qualified persons who possess a knowledge of workplace hazards and their associated controls, as well as an understanding of how to demonstrate that knowledge to others.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

1. Understand importance of chemical safety and health at workplace (chemical storage, mixing/compounding, processing, laboratory, etc) and identify aspects that require attention on chemical safety, security and health at work place.

2. Recognize, aware and have a better knowledge on the existing regulations and legal requirements on chemical usage and exposure, scheduled waste and chemical spill response.

3. Be able to segregate chemical properly during storage and usage.

4. Have a better understanding and be able to properly apply the PPE and Engineering control involved, automation or other safety triggering system.

5. Be able to interpret Safety Data Sheet (SDS) utilized the safety data sheet (SDS) and other available information or resources.

6. Be able to identify the hazard potential and take proactive measure for prevention purpose.

7. Be able to properly apply the safe work handling procedure and appropriate work practice.

8. Be familiar with the chemical spill procedure and existing chemical spill equipment.

9. Be familiar with the unsafe act and emergency procedures, planning implementation and reviewing process.

10. Have better understandings on the existing/future improved chemical handling requirements and manage chemicals and chemical waste generated from factory and non-factory operations.

11. Able to conduct simple audit on chemical safety and health procedure and management system for chemicals and chemical waste.
