IMM Coating Fingerprint Certification
IMM Coating Fingerprint Certification is initiated by Oil & Gas Industry, Paints & Coatings Industry as well as the Institute of Materials, Malaysia (IMM) to uphold the overall painting coating quality assurance. All protective coatings and paints supplied to the Oil & Gas Industry must be recognized by Coating Fingerprint Certification. The technique of the Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) method has been selected as the appropriate method to provide the fingerprinting requirement in addition to other physical & chemical tests which are regularly conducted by the paint & coating manufacturers to ensures the batch-to-batch consistency of the paints supplied.
Corrosion of METALS is known to be the biggest culprit in catastrophes and fatalities when they fail despite having MILL CERTIFICATES. Therefore, it is generally assumed that even with a Coating Fingerprint, paint failures would still be anticipated. The only known result of poor quality paint supply is the increase in costs of repair and maintenance. The oil & gas and petrochemical industries have implemented the requirements for Coating Fingerprint Certificate (equivalent to the Mill Certificate for Metals) for all the protective coatings and paints supplied to the industry operators. As such, paint manufacturers will be required to engage an IMM Certified Coating Fingerprint Quality Controller (FPQC) to conduct FTIR analysis and associated physical tests [i.e. the quality control tests (QC)] on paints to produce a Coating Fingerprint Certificate that ensures the batch-to-batch consistency of the paints supplied.
Eurofins NML is proud to be listed as the IMM recommended 3rd party laboratory with own In-house FPQC to offer fast, reliable, and accurate FTIR analysis on your paint products to comply with PETRONAS Technical Specifications. We have IMM Certified Coating Fingerprint Quality Controller Level 1 which certified by the Institute of Materials, Malaysia (IMM). Such certified personnel has the knowledge and skills required in conducting quality control and quality assurance on coating/paint systems and certified to issue Coating Fingerprint Certificate.
